Eczema is a form of dermatitis or inflammation of the skin. Eczema is a chronic recurring skin disorder that results in dry, easily irritated, itchy skin. Scratching may result in bleeding. Eczema skin may appear discoloured and “leathery”. Eczema is common on the inner elbow and back of knee. Many skin conditions appear similar and it is very important not to attempt to self-diagnose but to see your medical practitioner for a correct diagnosis.
There are different treatments for eczema — these will depend on the type of eczema that you have, and on its severity. Your treatment is a personal decision to be made together with your doctor.
It is beyond the scope of this website to provide a diagnosis, counseling or advise on treatments.
